The Atlantic Planners Institute conference was in Charlottetown this year, and I spoke to the group this morning at a session I titled “Planning in Secret: Effective Strategies for Keeping the Public Out of the Planning Process.”

The title, of course, was ironic; as was revealed on slide number two, the real meat of my talk was “Planning in the Open” and I concentrated on reasonable changes that planners can make, without significant investment, in the design and distribution of planning information that can leverage digital tools and digital citizens to good end.
